As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. About 207,090 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2010. About 39,840 women will die in 2010 from breast cancer. These shocking and unfortunate statistics should encourage people around the world to donate time and money to research efforts to find a cure for breast cancer.
This year, Clinique is doing its part to raise money for breast cancer research by launching two special promotions this month. The third step of Clinique's famous 3-Step System is the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. For the month of October, customers will be able to buy a larger revamped bottle of DDML that will include a pink key ring with Clinique 'C' and breast cancer awareness ribbons. Clinique will donate 10 dollars of every $45.50 bottle sale to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation! They will also donate 4 dollars from every purchase of Clinique's Lip Trio Key Ring which include three popular lip colors; Clearly Pink, Grapefruit, and Glazed Berry.
I've never been the best citizen when it comes to giving money to charity and mainly because I don't have a lot of extra income in college. Since I've worked for Clinique, their involvement in different charities and especially the Breast Cancer Research Foundation has motivated me to give. By purchasing the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, you are not only giving to charity, but you're getting a great product. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I easily spend $45.50 on items that are completely unnecessary every week! Ask yourself where your discretionary income goes, and where it COULD instead go to help others.

This is a great post. I love reading about how different organizations donate to breast cancer awareness. It just goes to show you we are all connected and every organization and person can make a difference. Ten dollars out of every forty-five dollar bottle is no small donation for Clinique to make, which says a lot about the company’s priorities and values. I like the way you organized the post by stating the statistics, telling Clinique’s role in breast cancer research, and telling how you personally feel the need to help. As college kids, we are all nearly broke so donating money isn’t at the top of our list of things to do. However, many of us blow our money on things that aren’t important or on things that we need like face lotion. We might as well buy products that donate money and make a difference. On a side note, I am absolutely in love with Clinique’s lip gloss! I am happy to know I buy from a company that is supporting breast cancer research.
ReplyDeleteI loved this blog! I found it very informational and well written. I had no idea Clinique was being so generous in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! If I had not have stumbled upon your blog, I would have never known about the $10 donation of every $45.50 bottle sold. I’m so glad they have this because almost every girl loves makeup (especially Clinique) so they’ll obviously buy some! And whenever I hear about a special charitable deal like this, I am even more willing to spend money for a good cause. This is a wonderful blog with great pictures, keep up the good work!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Laura above! Especially being a Zeta I am always up for an opportunity to support our philanthropy! I love that designer brands like Clinique use the power of their high prices to help out with a cause! I see having money as having an opportunity to help and I am so glad that Clinique realized this. You did an awesome job explaining the promotion in your post!
